Tras diversos encuentros, se ha llevado a cabo la firma del convenio entre la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) y Newstar International (NEWSTAR Co ltd).
Este acuerdo permitirá iniciar la internacionalización de los programas formativos que se imparten desde CEGEA, centro de investigación de la UPV. Durante el curso 22/23 se va a lanzar el MBA en Dirección de Empresas y Transformación Digital.
CEGEA cuenta con la experiencia de más de 60 ediciones en sus programas MBA. Newstar International aporta el knowhow y una amplia red de contactos para introducir los programas a nivel internacional.
Noticias de la Economía Pública, Social y Cooperativa es una publicación cuatrimestral elaborada por CIDEC junto a Ciriec-España. Es, desde 1991, un canal de comunicación entre profesionales e investigadores del campo de la Economía Social.
En el último número publicado, incluye una entrevista a Juan Juliá, director de CEGEA. En ella valora el rol de las cooperativas en la coyuntura económica y social actual y comenta las líneas de trabajo que se estan siguiendo desde la Comisión de Cooperativas de AECA, la red ENUIES y CEGEA.

Dos compañeros de CEGEA, Elena Meliá y Juan Juliá, participan dentro del equipo facilitador en el proyecto de fusión de las cooperativas de Llombai, Alfarp y Catadau.
Se trata de tres organizaciones de peso dentro de la historia del cooperativismo en la Comunidad Valenciana que ahora están analizando la viabilidad de la fusión puesto, como señala Paco Borrás, la viabilidad por separado en las condiciones actuales no es sostenible. Paco Borrás, con su dilatada experiencia ganada desde Anecoop, participa también en el proyecto en calidad de consultor.

A study carried out in CEGEA by Elies Seguí, Guillermina Tormo, Xavier Molina and Luis Martínez reflects «devastating effects» of the pandemic in the industry but also «hopeful signs» in the response of SMEs, including the promotion of innnovation.
The study, based on a sample of 520 companies -from ten different sectors-, shows that the pandemic has had a great impact on current and future sales with a greater effect for small companies and that his impact is uneven according to the activity sector. In the three most affected sectors, the data are as follows: in the toy sector, 8 out of 10 of the firms consulted claim to have suffered a decrease in their sales; in footwear, 9 out of 10; and the percentage reaches 100% in the automotive industry,
This is extracted from the «Study of the impact of COVID on industrial companies» carried out as an iniciative of the Conselleria de Economía Sostenible, through their collaboration with the Universitat Politècnica de València by its Chair of Valencian Economy and the Centre for Research in Business Management (CEGEA).

El 17 y 18 de septiembre se celebró en Mataró (Tarragona) el XVIII Congreso Internacional de Investigadores en Economía Social y Cooperativa de CIRIEC. Se trata de una cita de referencia en la investigación académica de calidad en Economía Social en la que varios miembros de CEGEA participaron activamente, contribuyendo con papers a distintas mesas temáticas o coordinando talleres.
Enhorabuena a CIRIEC por la organización, especialmente en tiempos complicados como los actuales. Ya nos anunciaron que el próximo año se llevará a cabo en Costa Rica, empezamos a prepararnos!

Call for Papers – Summer 2020
Special Issue – Social, Environmental and SDG Performance and Reporting in Co-operatives
The business world is seeing a great change in how impact is regarded and measured, and thus how organizations, businesses, different orders of government etc. are evaluated. There is an increasing interest in measuring and evaluating co-operative performance beyond the purely economic to include social and environmental indicators of impact. There is an expansion of what is labelled as impact and how impact in measured to include a vast array of methodologies and frameworks such as corporate social responsibility, sustainability reporting, corporate accountability, environmental and governance reporting, and many others. The take-up of these methodologies and frameworks within the private, public and social economy sectors is increasing.
After decades of work with United Nations, 193 countries, including Canada, adopted The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. The development of the SDGs brings a new global framework by which countries, businesses including co-operatives, and communities are figuring out how to measure and report on their impact regarding the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Co-operatives are not immune to the new impact assessment ideologies that are emerging and the changes in reporting and measuring that go hand and hand with them. In fact, the co-operative sector should/could be a leader in expanded impact measurement because of co-operatives’ inherent social (and increasingly environmental) nature.
Given the rise, interest, and implementation of these multiple new frameworks, this Special Issue is seeking papers on any aspect of management, measurement and reporting related to social, environmental and SDG performance of co-operatives.
